I have wp 3.1.1,
The option of “settings> miscellaneous ” is not available.

I see
…
.discussion
.media
.privacy
…
but no miscellaneous.
Has the verbiage changed?

Hey you probably have to FTP to that directory and chmod it to 664 or 666

I have made necessary changes but I have the same problem.

Unable to create directory /article/wp-content/uploads/2010/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Please help me.

Thank you thank you thank you. This problem has been plaguing me for a while and I thought it was a directory write permission issue…but then I fixed that and it was still wonky. Argh, total lifesaver.
