I recently built this site in a subdirectory in preparation for going live once everything was built and working appropriatly. After I launched the site and tried to add images to a new article Wordpress was still trying to upload the images to the old directory. Luckily, there is a very easy solution to this problem.
Follow along through these steps to remedy the problem. If the problem persists, please leave a comment or contact me.
Note: The default upload path is wp-content/uploads
- Log into your WordPress Admin backend

- Click on Settings

- Click Miscellaneous

- Modify the Store uploads in this directory field to reflect the appropriate path/to/ your images

- Click Save Changes

Thank you thank you thank you. This problem has been plaguing me for a while and I thought it was a directory write permission issue…but then I fixed that and it was still wonky. Argh, total lifesaver.

I have made necessary changes but I have the same problem.
Unable to create directory /article/wp-content/uploads/2010/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
Please help me.
Thanks.

Hey you probably have to FTP to that directory and chmod it to 664 or 666
